I just want to learn things and that's what college should be for, but they're making it too hard. Learning isn't hard.
It seems like schools think they need to make things more difficult than they actually are so that people will take them seriously or something? I don't know why
but it just makes school not about learning stuff and about like grades and homework instead.
Grades are supposed to measure how much you've learned. not everyone learns the same way but everyone has to show that they learned something by doing the exact same thing, and it turns into everyone just learning how to do that thing instead of the things they need to know.

  1. So true Alice, however this isn't exactly the case for all classes. Some classes have more flexibility on showing you know what you need to know. In our class, unfortunately, it's a mix of both. We have certain skills and concepts we need to master to have a solid foundation for the next class. The problems don't have to be the same, but they have to have the same skills to solve. There are also LOTS of different ways to start problems, I try to approach problems the way that has worked for past students, but it's not necessarily the way everyone has to approach the problem.
What does need to happen is everyone needs to put in time and practice to master the skills - that's the work that everyone must do. Some people will take more time and others less (but they should be done earlier).
